What is NeuroKinetic Therapy®?
NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) corrective movement system is a sophisticated bodywork and muscle therapy that can be used as both an assessment and rehabilitative technique for low back pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel and other injuries, in conjunction with Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (PDTR).
NKT utilizes manual muscle testing to assess dysfunctions of the coordination system of the brain resulting from traumatic injury, overuse, underuse, repetitive stress, postural stress etc. It cues the brain for new learning resulting in immediate correction of neuromuscular imbalances.
NeuroKinetic Therapy works with the body’s organisational intelligence, addressing pain at its source: the Motor Control Centre of the brain. Practitioners can quickly and accurately correct the dysfunctional postural and movement patterns that are the source of most mystifying chronic pain and degeneration of the muscles and joints.

Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (PDTR)
Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (PDTR) is a technique that uses muscle testing and neurological challenges to reset proprioceptive dysfunctions within the body.
All dysfunctions (structural, nutritional, emotional, electrical) start out as faulty neurological signalling patterns in the nervous system before they become physical problems. The physical body cannot be healthy unless the nervous system is functional.
PDTR is excellent for trauma, injury, pain, scar tissue, emotional dysfunctions, muscles dysfunctions, reoccurring problems and chronic issues.
NeuroKinetic Therapy combines PDTR muscle testing with various forms of massage and/or stretching. Excellent for the quick release of tight muscles!
How does NeuroKinetic Therapy work?
A good example of how NeuroKinetic Therapy works is a baby learning to stand. Through many attempts and failures the baby finally achieves success. But how?
The Motor Control Centre (MCC) in the brain chooses the most successful attempts until standing happens without “thinking” about it. Conversely, after an injury, the MCC adapts to a compensation pattern and holds that in its memory forever unless it is convinced to change. A good example is a whiplash accident in which the posterior neck muscles brace for the anterior neck muscles. This pattern can endure forever unless there is some intervention.
When an NKT practitioner tests the weak anterior neck muscles, they fail thus opening the MCC to new learning. After the balance is restored, the MCC is “reprogrammed” and recognizes the anterior neck muscles. To complete the reprogramming, specific rehab exercises are assigned to “burn in” the new functional pattern.
